Family Model

With the Family Model you can bundle your together time, recreation, exercise and baby sitting into one big package of fun and enjoyment. It will comfortably accommodate one or two passengers, groceries, and other gear. 

The fabric seat hangs from front to back rather than from side to side. Thus with two children there is no tendency to slump together in the middle. The 5-point seat harnesses are fully adjustable. A unique shoulder strap adjustment lets you expand with growth for a continuing perfect fit. And although it comes with two side-by-side harnesses an extra crotch strap permits reconfiguration to a single, center harness.

Minimum Age

Because of the possibility of infants being permanently injured from the bouncing and jarring received in a trailer, some would prohibit infant car seats from being introduced into trailers – a ban the ASTM has accepted.  And some trailer manufacturers suggest that their trailer not be used for children under one year of age, whether contained in an infant car seat or the trailer seat harness. 

 At the same time, many parents continue to carry infants in car seats almost from birth.  If you are considering putting your child in a trailer at a tender age, we suggest you do so only with approval of qualified medical counsel.  Use a quality, approved car seat and attach it securely with webbing and buckle to the bottom trailer frame (after removal of the seat tube and pushing the fabric seat back out of the way).  And before you rely on the CycleTote 5-point safety harness to contain your infant, make sure that the neck muscles are strongly developed.

Trailer Breakdown



The Family Model breaks down in three easy steps:  (1)  Removal of quick release wheels (15 seconds).  Note that the automatic braking system wheels are not, and cannot be, quick release.  (2)  Removal of tongue by loosening red wing nuts (15-20 seconds).  (3)  You have your choice of roll bars, clamp-on or quick release.  Removal of clamp-ons require use of a hex (allen) wrench and can take 2-4 minutes  The quick release, or pin type, limit convertibility but allow removal in 15-20 seconds by pulling 4 detent pins.  If you must break the trailer down regularly (such as to transport in the trunk of your car), the quick release option is recommended.

The Family Model comes equipped with 430 denier nylon pack cloth fabric, clear plastic side windows, a bicycle seat post hitch attachment, your choice of either 700c (touring) or 26" (mountain bike) full-sized, quick release bicycle wheels and tires, safety flag, rear reflector and wheel reflectors.
